Paddy Kerr Cup Final   22/09/2018

This afternoon was the inaugural Paddy Kerr cup final and its lived up to the man the cup has been named after. A game with pure class and a credit to both teams. Ballyowen unbeaten in the league and won comprehensively a couple of weeks ago against their cup finals opponents went into the final confident of taking the cup home and the game started that way. 10 Minutes in the dangerous Thomas O`Malley broke down the right and sent in a low cross that was finished at the near post. In fairness to Beechwood they rolled up their sleeves and stuck at it and got there rewards just on the stroke of half time. The Ballyowen defence were exposed and Thomas Tourish broke threw and cooley finished into the corner. 2nd half Beechwood were a new team and really put Ballyowen under pressure and again the Ballyowen defence were left wanting with Tourish through 1v1 and kept his cool to put them 2-1 up. The last 10 minutes Ballyowen through everything at Beechwood but the Beechwood net minder Luke Caddow made 2 fantastic clearances under pressure with his fists to keep them at bay and Beechwood ran out 2-1 winners. Paddy's family attended including his wife Ann, daughter Niamh and Grandson Jamie along with other family members and friends . They were grateful to the S.D.F.L. and both teams who paid tribute to Paddy at the final Whistle. Great way to honour a great man. Well done all
